When I entered the Panther's Den for tonight's N-O game between Roy-Hart and Newfane, I was greeted with "what are you doing here, this was the best game tonight?"  I was aked the same thing twice more before I left.  With a trip to Jamestown on tap for tomorrow night, I thought it might be a good idea to keep the gas tank full and stay local tonight.

Newfane (2-1,2-0) came out with a  full-court pressure defense that rattled the Rams (1-2,1-1) for the entire first half and built up a 31 point lead before the break, leading 48-17.   After calling the pressure off in the second half, the Panthers unloaded their bench and went on to get a 76-45 victory.

The Panthers were lead by a monster performane from Rohn Pierce, who scored a game-high 35 points, with 29 coming before halftime.  During his 17 point second quarter, Pierce's teammates kept saying "he's a beast".  Dan Hambruch added 15 points for Newfane.  Chris Bowers scored a team-high 10 points for Roy-Hart.

Next up for the Panthers is a trip to Main Street, where they will face Williamsville North on December 28th in the opening round of the Jolly Boys Tournament at Williamsville South.  In game two, the Billies will play St. Francis.

Seems that after the early seasons tournaments that no one has the strenght and depth to stop NF down low. They have controlled the offensive and defensive boards in games against some pretty good competition. Aquinas looked like the the best challange but they couldn’t shoot NF out of the 3-2 zone
Canisius Soph trio played well, if they can get some help for Lyons down low they will be the best in the MMA.
SJCI needs to play at the defensive end. They let Aquinas have anything they wanted offensively.
Jamestown has a very good first five. Paige is as athletic as any player in the area. Butts is solid (despite his struggles vs NF)as are there other three staters. Have seen much past that.
Will South can score with anyone, need to rebound and play defense to compete with the best.

Hey all! Hoops season can’t be far away. McShea got out of the football trenches (about time) for a second and plugged the start of practice on Monday 11/7/11 in today’s paper.
Nice recognition for the Crusaders. Expectations must be high on Delaware Ave., not sure if that’s a good thing or not so good.
Hey CC! Where’s the preseason CC review?! You’re slacking old man!!
