When St. Joe's Reggie Agbeko went to the free throw line during the rivalry game at Canisius, the Crusader fans, known as the Blue Crew, chanted "overrated".  Marauder assistant coach Jack Herlan turned to the press table with a smile and said "he doesn't even know what overrated means".

 

After playing every team once, the East Panthers own double-digit wins over every Yale Cup opponent expect McKinley, who beat them by five in the first meeting. 

 

Niagara Falls is now the #1 ranked team in New York State's Class AA by the NYSSWA.  Not bad for a team that was unranked in the Buffalo News poll at the end of last season.

 

On Friday night, the Lakemen and Panthers scored a combined 31 points in the first half, two less than Newfane's Rohn Pierce scored by himself in a half earlier this season.

 

Williamsville South's Joe Licata will break the New York State record for career 3-pointers  this season.  Against West Seneca East, he connected on number 309 and is now only 26 away from making history.

 

Canisius outscored St. Francis, 31-1, in the first quarter on Tuesday night. 

 

Riverside made only one out of 11 attempts from the free throw line in the second half of its loss to East on Monday.

 

A Kenmore West defender fouled the Wolverines' Marcus Feagins and prevented a dunk during Niagara Falls' win last Thursday.  Feagins was attempting a 360 and said after the game that he finishes them all the time at practice and would have put it down if not for the foul.

 

David Hill became only the second player to go over 1,000 career points at Clarence.  The milestone was achieved during a victory against City Honors on Friday.

 

In wins against Niagara Wheatfield and Amherst last week, Maryvale's Blair Estafaa scored 71 of his team's 105 points.  He's averaging just over 33 points in his last three games.

 

Williamsville South has won 24 consecutive games against ECIC II opponents.  The last time the Billies lost a league game was February 6, 2009 at Sweet Home.  Stasiak and Licata were sophomores and Mark Coppola missed the game with a head injury.

 

  Here's an unusual full circle story:

Last season, then freshman Lonnie Taylor was called up from the JV to play for Buffalo East in the wake of several starters becoming academically ineligible.  Taylor played well for the Panthers and scored 10 points in the Yale Cup championship loss to eventual Class C state champion Middle College.  Taylor transferred to Medina and began the season as a starter for the Mustangs varsity team.  He has since been sent down to the JV team at Medina.
