Game of the Week – Canisius @ St. Joe's on Friday, January 27th
– On a Friday night loaded with games I'd like to see, there's an easy choice for the one to be at. WNY's biggest rivalry returns to the hardwood for round one, on the heels of a big Saturday for both teams.
The last time these two faced each other was the 2011 Manhattan Cup championship game, a thriller won by Canisius, 57-53. The regular season saw the teams split their two meetings, with the road team victorious in both.
Canisius has owned the series recently, winning nine of the last 11 against the Marauders and four in a row at Kenmore Avenue. The Crusaders have also played for the last three Manhattan Cups, winning in 2009 and 2011, while St. Joe's last won it in 2008.
If you want to be part of the experience on Friday, you'll need to arrive early – this game is a guaranteed sell out. The tip is scheduled for 7 pm, part of a freshmen & JV triple-header.
