Buffalo Storm Summer Tip-off Team Camp

The 2012 Buffalo Storm Tip-off Summer Team Camp will take place on Friday, June 22nd & Saturday, June 23rd.  The camp, which is presented by Niagara Wheatfield head coach Erik O'Bryan and Damen Associate head coach Mike Miranto, will have games played at three different sites on each day: Daemen College, Park School, and Sweet Home High School.  Games will begin on Friday at 4:30 pm and on Saturday at 8 am.  A one time admission of just $5 is good for any and all games during the two-day event.

 

The camp's format guarantees each team at least three games.  A total of 24 schools will participate, with each school placed in a four-team pool:

 

Pool A – Niagara Falls, St. Joe's, Olean, & Amherst

Pool B – Canisius, Jamestown, McKinley, & Kenmore West

 

Pool C – St. Mary's, Williamsville North, Batavia, & Newfane

Pool D – Depew, Williamsville South, Clarence, & Sweet Home

 

Pool E – Niagara Wheatfield, Wilson, Tonawanda, & Iroquois

Pool F – Grand Island, Maryvale, North Tonawanda, & Park

 

** A champion will emerge from each pool and then face the champion from the pool it's paired against (A vs. B, C vs. D, E vs. F), meaning there will be three overall champions crowned.

 

Some of the marquee matchups that are guaranteed to take place include:

 

Friday @ Daemen

5:45 pm – Niagara Falls vs. Olean

7:00 pm – Jamestown vs. Canisius

 

Saturday @ Daemen

2:15 pm – McKinley vs. Jamestown

 

Saturday @ Park High School

11:45 am – Niagara Falls vs. St. Joe's

2:15 pm – Olean vs. St. Joe's

 

Saturday @ Sweet Home

10:30 am – Canisius vs. McKinley

    Team of Reggie, Nevins, and Rehbuam playing on a team on the top men’s court. I also saw Valenti also has a team, as does Hart. Both playing in older divisions I believe.

    cant take much from this tournament,not all players were there and a lot of boys who might not even make teams were playing.take it for what it is,somewhat organized pickup.some of the teams were down right horrible and couldnt beat some freshman teams.somewhat of a waste of time.

    Have not come on here since April!
    Wait I got RIPPED when I said Reggie 2 Oklahoma had 2 b a joke. Remember when he was ‘considering’ it? HA! It’s July guys….please.
    Must say Player of the Year race should b fun next season Taplin, A Weir and Crumpton. I’d give Taplin the early edge.
    CC I will b biking 2 c u this week or next.
    BTW when 8 of the first 18 picks in the NBA draft r from Carolina and Kentucky, it will remind me of what a GREAT Championship game we were robbed of when K Marshall got hurt.

    According to my sources, Texas has now entered the Sterling Taplin sweepstakes with Wake Forest and Texas as the front runners. Syracuse has cooled off but are still players. Boston University saw him play once and gave him an offer on the spot.

    How about we just let the kid play his hs season and not put unfair tags on him. I am in full support of noting actual offers the other stuff is only hear say and leads to everyone watching him and saying”he is not that good”. He will be a scholarship player, lets see where he ends up

    how do you know that syracuse is recuriting taplin? Iv talked to people directly invovled with the coaches at syracuse basketball and i was told that they have heard of him, but they are not recuriting him

    Gerry Mcnamara was at the Will North Niagara Falls game at Buff St for the playoffs watching Taplin, and has had conversations on the phone with the asst coach from Will North. Taplins dream school is Mich St.

    ok how about this he is not in the elite of the country few from our area are, only kids from here to attend these camps are flynn and harris but he is certainly a D1 prospect and i would love to see him at a UB rather than try a higher level and have to transfer like alot of kids. there were over 300 transfers this yr. WOW. Sterling will be fine he can play

    I’m reporting that St. Mary’s coach/Athletic Director Dan Gill has accpeted a position in Florida. I’ll have more details this afternoon. Good guy and good coach, has done a lot for HS sports in WNY- he’ll be missed locally.

    FYI,the ecic/mma challenge was in place long before gil was at st marys and the hospitality room has always been a part of it.give credit when due,none needed for him with this event.
