NCCC’s Corbi offers skill training

Niagara County Community College assistant men’s basketball coach Michael Corbi wants to help take your game to the next level. Corbi’s Elite Basketball Training offers effective yet affordable skills training for boys and girls of any age that want to improve their game.

Over the past few years Corbi, who has a bachelor’s degree in physical education along with a minor in coaching from Buffalo State College, has trained some of the top players in the area. His workouts include ball handling, passing, shooting along with a highly-effective strength and conditioning program that is designed to improve strength, quickness and athleticism.

“Coach Corbi has an innovative way to teach the fundamentals of the game,” NCCC head coach Bill Beilein said. “His individual attention has helped players reach their goal of getting to the next level.”

One example of that is Isaiah Johnson, a former NCCC standout that earned a full scholarship to NCAA Division II Young Harris (Ga.) College and this past season was named to the Peach Belt Conference’s Second Team after leading his team in scoring, assists, steals and 3-point percentage.

“Coach Corbi is one of the most caring and enthusiastic people I have ever met,” Johnson said. “He’s always trying to find new ways to better his players and he gets a rush out of seeing his players succeed.”

Vince Kazmierczak, a St. Mary’s (Lancaster) graduate and former NCCC star, agreed.

“Coach Corbi is dedicated to making your game better and if you put in the work with him, the results will follow,” said Kazmierczak, who received a full scholarship to NCAA Division II Malone (Ohio) University.

Other clients of Corbi include Jon Marsh (Bennett, NCCC, Edinboro), Amir Billups (Starpoint, Fredonia State, L.A. Pro Summer League), Lucas Pichette (North Tonawanda, Pitt-Bradford), Jack Mulcahy (Niagara-Wheatfield, Nazareth) and Eric Hall (Seneca, NCCC, St. Andrew’s).

Individual 60-minute skill workouts cost $25 with 90-minute sessions priced at $35. There are discounts available when you sign up for 10 or 20 sessions at a time. Small group and team training is also available. For more information visit elitebballtraining.com , or contact Corbi at 716-796-4051 or Michael.Corbi1@yahoo.com.

Great opportunity here for hs players to get some valuable instruction and drill work. Playing games are great but not getting necessary drill work and instruction is a common mistake made in the off season. Now is the time to work on your game and become a solid well oiled fundamental basketball player.
As far as camps, any and all guards would be well advised to sign up for Bobby Hurley’s point guard academy on August 15th and 16th. Learn from college basketballs all time assist leader and one of the top point guards to ever play. Having seen several of Hurley’s camps and compared to hundreds I’ve seen over the years is that Hurley is actively engaged with instructing kids and loves doing it. I’ve seen far too many camps where the head coach shows up three times once to say hello in the morning, two at the beginning of the afternoon session and third at the end of the day. Otherwise they’re never to be spotted.
    Here’s the camp brochure. http://www.ubbulls.com/camps/mbb-pointguardacademy-brochure2014.pdf
