In a ceremony on Friday, December 12, 2014, the Lackawanna School District and Athletic Department will be honoring Bill Bilowus for his tremendous contributions to Lackawanna athletics. The High School gymnasium will be named in his honor, The William J. Bilowus Gymnasuim.
Coach Bilowus was the boys varsity coach at LHS for 18 years, from 1969 to 1987. During that time, his teams compiled a record of 329 wins and only 54 losses; winning 17 divisional championships, 3 super-sectional championships, and in 1979 his team won the New York State Class A championship, the first ever for a team from Western New York. Bilowus is a member of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, The University of Buffalo Athletic Hall of Fame, the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame, as well as the Lackawanna HS Athletic Wall of Fame. The reception and ceremony is open to the public and all former LHS players are encouraged to attend. Please come out and join us!! Details are as follows:
