** According to the rankings…
– There are at least five teams innSection V's Class AA better than Jamestown: Bishop Kearney (11), Aquinas (14), Fairport (20), Irondequoit (22), and Rush-Hentietta, who is unranked, but knocked off the Red Raiders by 14 points.
– The Canisius loss at Troy, a team with a losing record, was not much of a punishable offense. The Crusaders also lost to Tampa Jesuit along the way, but fell just three spots from 9 to 12.
– Amherst's loss to Aquinas at the Jolly Boys Tournament actually earned them a bump, from 22 to 21 in Class A. Either that, or they were really impressed that the Tigers beat St. Francis the following day.
– St. Mary's dropped three spots for each loss over break (Williasmville East & Pittsford Sutherland), dropping a total of six places, from 9 to 15 in Class B.
– Jamestown's win over Newark (#22 in Class A) in the Rush-Henrietta Tournament didn't impress the rankings committee.
– Fredonia losing a close game to Timon was a big deal. The Hillbillies dropped six spots, from 15 to 21 in Class B.
– They finally came around on Walsh and ranked the Eagles in Class B (25), despite them being idle since the last rankings.
– Eight of the top 20 teams in NYS from Class C are from Sections V & VI.
– Much like I did, the state had a delayed reaction to Portville beating Walsh. The Panthers are ranked this week in Class C (16).
– Panama's loss to Randolph at the United Way Showcase in Jamestown was costly. They dropped 10 spots, from 8 to 18 in Class D.
– Sherman is going back to Glens Falls.
