** According to the rankings…
– Canisius is the best Class A team in NYS.
– Park is the best Class B team in NYS
– Jamestown finishing #17 in the state in Class AA is fair, especially when you really look at the teams ahead of them in Class AA. They finished four spots behind Green Tech, three behind Long Island Lutheran, and just two spots behind Abraham Lincoln. At the state level, when you include the PSAL and CHSAA teams, Class AA is loaded.
– Aquinas finishes #6 in Class AA, while Mount Vernon ends up at #10.
– The CHSAA is not a highly regarded association. Kennedy Catholic, a two-loss team that Canisius beat for the state title, is only ranked #8. Chaminade, who Canisius defeated in the CHSAA state semifinals, is only ranked #17 in Class A.
– There were only three NYSPHAA teams that finished ahead of Williamsville South:
Scotia-Glenville, Greece Athena, & Spring Valley
– They ended up seeing I-Prep as the 4th best of the four teams that reached Glens Falls in Class D.
– Section V has a total of 19 teams ranked at the end, while Section VI & the MMA have 17 teams ranked.
– Class A was WNY's strongest classification this season, with six teams making the top 30 and two (Canisius & Williamsville South) finishing top 10.
