Poll Ballots 2019 – Week 2

IMG_7085 (2)(Justin Poumpey & Amiel Collins defending for St. Francis)

Large Schools
1. Park (MMA) – The Pioneers are now 3-0 and a clear cut above the competition in WNY from what I've seen, and what I've seen is a team playing a great brand of basketball.  No games for the team this week.

2. Canisius (MMA) – It's not even January yet, but with five new starters, the Crusaders have already worked their way up to #2 on my ballot.  A road win at McQuaid, where Falls lost in OT and St. Joe's lost by 35 was all it took.

3. Niagara Falls (AA) – Took a tough loss at McQuaid over the weekend, a team they will have to figure out how to get past when March rolls around.

4. St. Francis (MMA) – The Red Raiders knocked off West Seneca West during the week, before taking their first loss at Holy Trinity on Sunday.  Now 3-1, St. Francis hosts its Christmas Tournament this weekend, with a possible date with Health Sciences looming on Saturday.

5. Williamsville North (AA) – After taking care of West Seneca West on Tuesday, the Spartans needed overtime to get past Frontier on Friday night and stay undefeated.  They host Clarence & Lancaster this week.

6. Lew-Port (A2) – Back-to-back 96-point outings for the Lancers, who are now 6-0.  But defense wins championships and the Lancers allowed 84 points at Kenmore East on Friday, something I'm sure they discussed at practice on Saturday.

7. South Park (A2) – Remained unbeaten in the Yale Cup after collecting wins over East and Burgard during the week.  Hutch-Tech and Emerson are on the slate for this week.

8. Health Sciences (A2) – Earned a win at St. Joe's during the week, before falling in an overtime thriller against O'Hara at the ADPRO Challenge, the type of loss that actually makes your stock rise.  A potential match up against St. Francis this Saturday would be a lot of fun.

9. Frontier (AA) – The Falcons were unbeaten on the year before Williamsville North edged them by three points in overtime on Friday night.  Two very tough matchups coming up this week at Cardinal O'Hara and hosting West Seneca West.

10. West Seneca West (A1) – The Indians took losses to Williamsville North and St. Francis during the week, before earning their first win of the year against Lockport on Saturday.  West has a pair of ECIC I games this week against Orchard Park and Frontier.

Small Schools
1. Olean (B1) – Earned a 32-point road win at Maryvale and a 40-point home victory over Chautauqua Lake last week.

2. Cardinal O'Hara (MMA) – In the best game I've seen so far this season, the Hawks took down Health Sciences in overtime.  The grind is just getting started for O'Hara, with home games against Frontier & Canisius, along with a trip to Middle College coming up before break.

3. Middle College (C1) – The Kats are 4-0 heading into games against a Burgard and Cardinal O'Hara this week.

4. Nichols (MMA) – The Vikings are 3-1 after hammering Newfane during the week, and get a chance to avenge their lone loss on Friday when Lew-Port visits.

5. Randolph (C2) – The Cardinals won the Rick Hughes Memorial Tournament at Franklinville over the weekend that included the hosts, Iroquois, and Pioneer.  They'll put their undefeated record on the line Monday night at Tapestry in a rematch of the 2018 Class C Final.

6. Allegany-Limestone (B2) – The Gators, who won by 17 points at Pioneer on Tuesday, head to Genesee Valley this week.

7. Southwestern (B2) – The Trojans face Maple Grove & Fredonia this week, after earning a 23-point victory at Chautauqua Lake on Tuesday.

8. City Honors (B1) – Took the early leg up in Yale Cup II with a thrilling last second win over rival MST Seneca on a 3-pointer at the buzzer by Kevion Taylor.  The Centaurs compete in the Depew Tournament this week.

9. Tapestry (C1) – Picked up their fourth straight win over Medina and did so convincingly.  Big home game Monday night with the Randolph in town, which will be followed by a visit to Ellicottiville.

10. Medina (B1) – The Mustangs are 4-1, which includes wins over Kenmore East, Grand Island, and BASCS.  Their lone loss was at Tapestry.

Niagara Falls HS Coach Sal is definitely the worst coach in western ny with the best roster top to bottom in WNY… The falls would be 6-0 with that team under a different head coach!!!

If Falls coach is the worst then the Ohara coach is right behind him. All that talent and should have lost to Health. He’s also online hyping up competition when he know that he got POY material on his own squad. Sorry about Johnson but he is not best player in area. I’d take 5 kids before him and he’s not in same class as Hutchins and Falls guards.

Man, lets clarify on them coaches. Sal + Tony only the worst of the coaches we actually hear about. There some coaches in the BPS only in it for the paycheck that don’t give two craps about nothing. Theres a reason why bad teams stay bad, good teams stay good, and other teams never as good as they should be. Coaching a big deal YEAH BOY

BPS coaches are only in it for the paycheck? Never! They have a lot of great leadership and direction from their great AD!
