All-Centercourt honors the Top 60 seasons

The time has come where I ask area high school hoops fans for their opinion before giving mine.  Who has earned a spot on the 2019 All-Centercourt Team?  Give it shot. One CC MVP, five teams with five players on each team, and another 35 players for honorable mention.

In a few weeks, the 11th Annual All-Centercourt Team will be announced, honoring the top 60 seasons turned in by WNY high school players this year.  The selections are broken down into a first, second, third, fourth, & fifth team, with five players on each, along with 35 honorable mention selections.  There is also an award for the CC MVP (the WNY Player of the Year), Coach of the Year, Sixth Man of the Year, All-Centercourt Defenders, and the Centercourt #BOOM Squad.

The top 60 may sound like a lot, but when you start putting names down on paper, the list fills quickly and inevitably some very good players get left off the list.  The main criteria I focus on is the 2019 season, not what you did in the past, and not where you're going in the future…it's all about honoring the top 60 seasons.

Use the comments section below to tell us what your 5 teams would look like and maybe even why.  If you're really ambitious, try coming up with the entire team including the HM selections.

Please keep all commentary appropriate when discussing high school athletes, and remember, it is lame to say someone does not belong on a team, without offering up who should be on one.  It might be even more lame to give only one or two teams.  Show us you've paid attention this season and provide all five teams.

Mason Goodridge is a name that has been left off of a team for the past two seasons falling to honorable mention. Mason is one of the most complete players in WNY, from ball handling, court vision, athleticism and having a very high basketball IQ. Goodridge gets the short end of the stick for one reason, he plays at Springville. Being a Springville grad myself, I understand the stereotype to stay away from the last town in Erie county when it comes to basketball. But mason isn’t just “good for springville,” he’s a top 10 player in WNY and he deserves that recognition. Anything past 2nd or 3rd team would be robbery to mason game and to the people of springville.

Jaylen Williams is a player that many people may not know but his work ethic is something crazy he’s slept on but he’s really a bucket and has great Defense lead his team to plenty of win this season as a Junior and he’s not all about scoring he likes to get his team in the game with him very respectful young man always has a Smile on his face but he also has that dog inside of him when he steps on the court.

Joe Hnat deserves a spot on here. He is more of a bucket than jaylen Williams due to his moneyball shooting. In the first game of the year the crowd started cheering his name and he delivered with back to back trey bombs while putting up a little three sign on his eye. The kid is gritty as it gets and is the Class AA version of Noah Hutchins. Definitely deserves a spot.

Iv’e watched Jaylen Williams on many occasions and his lack of effort and grit is truly disheartening. Along with that, he lacks the skill set to play basketball at an effective level. Arguably the furthest thing from a bucket. No spot for him.

Tyler Hind should land somewhere 1st to 2nd team. He is arguably the best shooter in WNY and that isn’t even his best asset. He is a natural born leader. Whether his team is up 20 or down 20, he plays incredibly hard and his teammates feed off that. He is a kid who is first in the gym and last to leave. If he had an off shooting night, he is on the gun the next morning at 6am getting 1,000 shots off. His love for the game is second to none. As great of a basketball player that he is, he is an even better young man. He would be a great ambassador for Center Court First or Second team!

Brooks can’t shoot. Nobody is the AA version of Hutchins. Closest would be Poumpey or Juston Johnson who is likely better but got screwed like my Frannies. Not the Williams kid he’s not even close.

Torree Cheatham! Probably the most slept on, underrated players in WNY. he’s a walking bucket, well running bucket, because this kid never stops pushing! plays full effort to the last buzzer, a true team player, with excite to bring to any team he is a part of!

Torree Cheatham is an underdog that everyone sleeps in he’s all in from rip off to the end of the game any team would be lucky to have him as a player with his vision his speed and game on the court he brings 100 percent ever practice workout and every game there’s no stopping this man not one bit

Torree Cheatham is one of the best overall players in WNY! His ability to score in spurts is unparalleled and his consistent energy is something any coach would die for. His Westbrook like attitude isthe spark every team needs and he refused to listen to critics. He puts in his work every gams and does whatever the team needs without regard to what anyone thinks. Without Cheatham, Lockport would have been lucky to be a .500 team.

Definitely the most important player and the most improved player from going from 6 points a game to 15 points and over 100 steals !!! Haakim Siner impresses with the transition from a big to the second pg
