According to the rankings…
– WNY has 3 of the Top 4 teams in NYS Class A, 3 of the Top 7 teams in NYS Class C, and the best team in NYS Class D.
– WNY wins state titles in NYSPHAA Class A & Class D and CHSAA Class A, while losing state title games in NYSPHAA Class C and CHSAA Class B. And we win the Fed in Class A
– UPrep continues to celebrates its Far West Regional title as the only NYS Class AA team from Section V or Section V to appear in the Top 30
– Williamsville North's 6-0 start doesn't even warrant an Honorable Mention in Class AA. However CSAT's 6-1 start with a 4-1 record against teams in Class B got them an Honorable Mention in Class A, along with the likes of Amherst, Will East, & North Tonawanda.
– St. Joe's is now the fourth best catholic team in NYS Class A after knocking off Jamesville-DeWitt and taking over their #12 spot in the state rankings – a six-spot jump from #18.
– Salesian knocks off the defending CHSAA Class B state champions from Cardinal O'Hara this year
– Olean goes back to states this season in Glens Falls. The Huskies are the highest ranked team from the Far West Region in NYS Class B.
– Allegany-Limestone's loss to unranked Owego Academy last week was more than covered by a win over unranked Susquehanna Valley the following day, as the Gators moved up two spots in the NYS Class B rankings
– Westfield, now the #19 team in NYS Class C, takes on Randolph for the Class C2 title at JCC.
– Panama graduates three starters from the team that lost in the 2019 NYSPHAA Class D state semifinal, but returns the following season to win the state title in 2020. The Panthers now sit atop the NYS Class D state rankings.
– Losing by 21 points at Salamanca and by 15 points at Sherman is one thing. But a three-point loss at JCC to Pine Valley in unacceptable, as Clymer found out. The Pirates were a two-loss team sitting at the #11 spot in NYS Class D last week, but the Pine Valley result got them bounced out completely. Not even an Honorable Mention.
