Random Smatterings 2026 – Week 10

– Head coach Kevin Hind & the Randolph Cardinals extended their league winning streak 88 games with a 85-37 victory over Portville on Friday.  The team has gone undefeated in league play for 8 consecutive seasons.

– No player enjoyed Friday the 13th more than Akron’s Blake Gerstung.  The senior led the Tigers to victory against Wilson, avenging an earlier loss and dishing the Lakemen their only league blemish of 2026.  Gerstung splashed 9 triples & finished with a career-high 33 points while breaking the school record for both career 3-pointers and 3-pointers in a game.

– Israel Wilson splashed a deep 3-pointer early in the game at St. Joe’s to eclipse 1,000 career points scored at St. Mary’s.

– Jamestown senior Dominic Gonzalez was honored during the Red & Green’s victory over Clarence for eclipsing 1,000 career points scored.

– Charlie Croff finished with 37 points in Lockport’s 68-59 win againt Ken East.

– Harlem Brannon scored a game-high 34 points as Ken West knocked off Lew-Port 82-78.

– Middle College 8th grader Adriaon Little splashed five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 24 points in a 74-64 win over Bennett.

– Buffalo Science improved to 11-6 on the season with a 107-25 victory over Tonawanda on Monday evening.

– Park sophomore Jeff Conrad had career-highs in points (20) and 3-pointers (6) in an 87-80 win over BASCS.

– BASCS has a player who rocks shades when he plays – his name, fittingly, is Jackson Shine.

– Jaleel Flowers scored a game-high 34 points for Buffalo Science against Park on Thursday evening.

– All 12 of the Thunderhawks entered the scorebook, with 10 players scoring 4+ points in Tapestry’s 96-62 win over Holland on Monday.

– Three teams will finish the 2026 season without winning a game, including one of the defending Section VI champions from 2025.

– Ken East junior Louis Morris grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds in a 48-36 win over Niagara Wheatfield.

– RJ Koopman dished 10 assists in Fredonia’s 74-59 win Southwestern on Tuesday, marking the 7th time this season the senior has had 10 or more dimes in a game.

– Trent Lewis finished with a career-high 31 pts for Frewsburg in a 68-58 win over Portville.

– Joe Mest drained 7 triples for the 2nd time in three games as Olean swept the season series with Salamanca with a 73-46 win.

– Sherman senior Jacob Ferranto recorded his 1st career triple-double in an 86-37 win over Panama.  Ferranto scored 25 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, dished 10 assists & earned 4 steals in the win.  He has logged 28 double-doubles in his career.

– Sophomore Braylen Swanson scored a career-high 25 points to go with 9 boards, 8 assists, & 3 steals in a 70-64 win over Maple Grove.

– Jack Cullinan swished a baseline jumper at the buzzer to give Canisius a victory over St. Joe’s on Tuesday.  The win not only clinched a Monsignor Martin Association league championship, it also gave the Crusaders a win over every other team in the league for a 5th straight season.
