Ranking the Top 10 Large & Small 2026 – Week 7

Large Schools

1. Health Sciences (AAA) –  Following a week off, the Falcons return to action this week with road trips to Rochester East  on Thursday and a Saturday afternoon rematch with Middle College.
2. St. Joe’s (AA) –  Enjoyed a brief stay at #1 before St. Mary’s earned a signature win over them on Tuesday.  Next week the Marauders have a pair of road games at Rochester East & Timon.
3. Canisius (AA) –  Picked up 3 wins in league play last week, knocking off Timon, St. Francis, & Park, to improve to 5-1 in the MMA as we approach the halfway point.  The Crusaders host McQuaid on Saturday.
4. Nichols (AA) –  After besting St. Francis on Tuesday, the Vikings went into St. Mary’s and took it from them in the second half for their 10th win of the season.  Tuesday night is already the rematch with the Lancers, followed by games against O’Hara & South Park on Friday & Saturday.
5. St. Mary’s (AA) –  Began the week with a huge win over then #1 ranked St. Joe’s, the first time St. Mary’s has defeated the Marauders since 2018.  Ended the week with a home loss, the 8th straight suffered at the hands of Nichols.  The ‘No Nights Off’ MMA has St. Mary’s right back against Nichols, this time in their gym, on Tuesday night, before hosting a rematch with St. Francis on Friday.
6. Niagara Falls (AAA) –  The forecast shut down the Wolverines game against UPrep last Wednesday, keeping them out of action for the week.  They should be well-rested by the time they are back in action on Saturday at Kipp Charter, followed by a Sunday game at undefeated Albany CBA.
7. Orchard Park (AA) –  After rolling past Williamsville East on Monday evening, the Quakers took a business trip to Jamestown and returned home with a double figure victory over the defending league champ.  The victory was the 10th on the season, 4th consecutive, and the type of signature win that places the team squarely among the top teams in the area.  Frontier & Lancaster are on the schedule this week for OP in ECIC I, where they are one of four teams with just one league loss.
8. Jamestown (AAA) –  Following a victory over Lancaster, the Red & Green lost their 1st league game of the season at home against Orchard Park.  They have a makeup date with Sweet Home scheduled for Monday, before resuming league play at Clarence & Frontier later in the week.
9. Grand Island (A1) –  Made it through the first turn in the NFL without a loss, getting a game-winner from KJ Wilkes at Lockport on Tuesday and then rolling past CSAT on Friday evening.  The Vikings will look for the season sweep at Ken West on Tuesday and then host Bennett on Thursday.
10. Williamsville North (AA) –  The Spartans’ defense held Frontier 26 points below its season average per game in a 61-23 triumph on Wednesday, earning a 4th win in 5 games.  North travels to Clarence this Friday.

Small Schools

1. Tapestry (B2) –  One of two undefeated teams left in WNY after two more victories last week over JFK & Bennett.  Unfortunately, the big game against Global Concepts was postponed.  This week, Tapestry has road games at Holland and a charter school rivalry game Friday evening at CSAT.
2. Wilson (C) –  The toughest week of the season to date has arrived for the Lakemen, staring down league home games against defending N-O champion Akron, along with the team that beat Akron by 15 points two weeks ago, their rivals from Newfane.
3. Akron (B2) –  The Tigers turned in a pair of dominant performances in league play, rolling past Roy-Hart & Medina, to improve to 4-1 on the season.  Tuesday night brings the big one at Wilson, where the Lakemen remain unbeaten and in 1st place.  Akron closes out the week at Albion.
4. Global Concepts (C) –  After taking Cleveland Hill apart to begin the week, the Gators dropped their 1st game of the season at Lancaster on Saturday.  Global Concepts has a legitimate squad and will be better for the loss to a Class AAA team.  They will take to the road this week at Westfield and Eden looking to get back in the win column.
5. Middle College (B1) –  After earning their 6th victory of the season against Bennett, the Kats dropped a close one to Clarence at the MLK event at McKinley.  Wednesday night they travel to St. Francis, before a pair of home games over the weekend against Olmsted and Health Sciences.
6. Medina (B1) –  Got the best of Albion in the extra session, coming away with a two-point overtime victory, before running into Akron on Friday night.  More tough games are waiting for Medina on Tuesday against Newfane and Friday at Barker.
7. Newfane (B2) –  Grinded out a 5-point win at Barker on Tuesday night, before cruising past Roy-Hart on Friday.  Two big ones coming up this week for the Panthers and both are away from home, when they head to Medina and league rival Wilson on Friday.
8. Olmsted (B1) –  The Owls scored an important league victory on Tuesday, taking down MST by 14 points. Friday evening they head to Middle College and on Saturday they host Riverside.
9. MST (B2) –  Picked up a bounce back win against Holland on Saturday after dropping one at the hands of Olmsted earlier in the week.  The Wolves draw a road games against Class AA opponents, McKinley & Hutch Tech this week.
10. Eden (B2) –  Placing the Raiders, who are 6-3 on the season, here in the last spot.  The only losses have come to unbeaten Tapestry & a pair to Medina, who one of those games going to OT.  They have games against CCA & Springville ahead of an important Saturday league showdown with Global Concepts.
